Stan Weaver Memorial Scholarship

The Stan Weaver Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate students with degree programs in Mechanical Engineering. A focus on HVAC&R is recommended. Each Spring there will be (1) $1,500.00 Scholarship awarded. Brief Biography of Stan Weaver (1931 – 2017):

Charles Stanley (Stan) Weaver was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on January 13, 1931 and in his early youth came to Florida in 1934.  He graduated from Clermont High School in 1948 and went on to the University of Florida in Gainesville and studied Mechanical Engineering, graduating in 1954.  During the summers of his college years, he worked for the Merchant Marine in the Great Lakes on an iron ore freighter that crossed Lake Superior.  Stan entered the United States Air Force in 1955 under the ROTC program and served in the USAF for thirty months.  Over Stan’s career he worked with General Electric, Trane Company, Middleton Company, and in 1978 he started his own company Stan Weaver & Co.  Stan was a past president (1974-1975) of our Florida West Coast Chapter of ASHRAE and was very active in the programs and activities of the Society and the Chapter.  For those of you who knew Stan personally, you know that there will truly never be another man like Stan Weaver.  His kindness and patience were endless, while he made it look effortless.  He was simply a genuine man with a Heart for others. This Scholarship Gift is an honor to a man that had a deep passion for the HVAC Industry. His level of customer service was second to none. The goal in business is to be successful. Stan’s goals were not only for his company to be successful but for the entire industry to prosper. This is especially evident in his tireless work and contributions to the ASHRAE Florida West Coast Chapter.

ASHRAE Society Scholarship Program

Through its scholarships, ASHRAE seeks to motivate students and prospective students worldwide to pursue an engineering or technology career in the HVAC&R field, part of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) industry. The Society’s Scholarship Program also serves the public interest by aiding in the education of men and women to become qualified to practice as engineers in HVAC&R.

Over the course of 30 years ASHRAE has awarded over $2.25 million to 400+ deserving students.
